How to list your benched consultants on BenchBee

What to prepare, how to post a consultant in a few minutes, what other members see, and how to get matched sooner.

To list a benched consultant on BenchBee, sign up with your verified IT consultancy, then post the consultant: drop their CV and let the form fill itself, or type the profile in, check it, and put it live. You need the role title at minimum, and the listing works best with availability dates, a day rate, a city, skills and two or three past assignments. Other members see the profile only: skills, experience, availability and rate, with no consultant name and no firm name. The listing stays live for 21 days and renewing it is free.

What information do you need to list a consultant?

Only the role title is required. Everything else decides whether anyone asks about the consultant.

How do you list a consultant, step by step?

  1. Sign up and have your company verified. Every consultancy is checked against Companies House in the UK, or the local company register elsewhere, before it gets access.
  2. Complete your profiles. Complete your profile and your company profile to unlock your first 3 matches.
  3. Post a consultant. In “My consultants”, drop the consultant’s CV and the form fills itself in. You can drop several CVs at once, or type the profile by hand.
  4. Check it. Correct the role title, add missing skills, set the dates and the day rate.
  5. Preview it. “View as the network” shows the profile exactly as another member will see it.
  6. Post it. The consultant is live for 21 days. Peer consultancies can send a match request straight away.

What do other members see, and what stays hidden?

Before a match is accepted, a listed consultant is a profile, not a person. Members see the role, availability, day rate, city and country, skills, languages, certifications and past experience, with a badge saying a verified IT consultancy posted it.

They do not see the consultant’s name, your firm’s name, your internal reference, your clients’ names or the CV.

Companies stay hidden until they choose to reveal themselves. Sending a match request reveals the sender to the receiver; accepting reveals both. Nobody sees how many consultants you have on the bench.

What happens when someone wants your consultant?

Here is the whole route, from listing to introduction. A request starts in one of two ways:

  • A peer consultancy asks. It links the request to one of its projects and says why the profile fits. You see who is asking and decide.
  • You propose the consultant for a role posted by a peer consultancy or an IT recruitment agency.

Requests go to the colleague who posted the consultant, and “My consultants” shows how many requests each consultant has waiting.

Diagram of four steps from listing to introduction: the consultant's profile goes live with no name; a member sends a match request or you propose the consultant for an open role; once the request is accepted both firms see each other and a chat opens; the interview is then arranged directly between the two firms.
Illustrative: how a listing becomes an introduction on BenchBee.

When a request is accepted, both firms see each other and a chat opens on BenchBee, with the history kept for both. Interviews are arranged between the two firms from there, and the two firms agree the rate and the contract directly. BenchBee takes no commission and is not a party to the contract (what happens after the match).

How do you get a listed consultant matched sooner?

Example, illustrative: “Senior Data Engineer, London, available from 3 November, £650 a day”, with Python, Spark, Airflow and AWS, and two recent projects for “a UK retail bank” and “an insurer”.

  • Use the title members search for. “Senior Data Engineer” is found; “Consultant” is not.
  • Name the real skills. The tools used on recent projects, not every one ever touched.
  • Always set a day rate. A member who filters by day rate does not see profiles without one.
  • Keep the dates true. Renewing does not change the availability dates, so check them when you renew.
  • Describe clients by sector. Client names are hidden, but descriptions are not, so keep names out of them.
  • Propose, don’t only wait. Check open roles every week.
  • Tell the consultant first. They are the one who will be interviewed.

What does it cost?

Listing and renewing are free, for as many consultants as you like. Consultancies use BenchBee free until 3 matches, with no time limit and no credit card; after that it is one Membership, with no commission on any match: pricing for consultancies. Frequently asked questions

How do I list my benched consultants on a platform?

On BenchBee, sign up with your verified IT consultancy, then post each consultant: drop their CV to fill the form, check it, and put it live. Peer consultancies can send a match request as soon as the consultant is listed.

What information do we need to list our consultants?

Only a role title is required. A listing that gets requests also has availability dates, a day rate, a city, named skills and two or three past assignments. A CV is optional and fills most of it in.

Will other consultancies see my consultants' names?

No. Before a match is accepted, members see the profile only: role, skills, experience, availability, rate and city, with no consultant name and no firm name. Sending a match request reveals the sender to the receiver; accepting reveals both firms.

Can I import a consultant's CV instead of filling the form?

Yes. Drop a PDF or Word CV of up to 10 MB and the form fills in the role, skills and experience. You review it before posting.

How long does a listing stay live?

21 days. A reminder comes three days before the end, and renewing is free and gives another 21 days. You can take a consultant off the network at any time.

Can recruitment agencies see my bench?

No. Agencies post IT jobs and cannot browse consultants. They only see a consultant you propose for one of their jobs.

Your bench is single. Let's get them matched.

Which of your consultants comes off a project next month? List them before the last day, not after it.

Free until 3 matches. No time limit. No credit card.
